Robert Slack
Head Coach
Coach Slack’s team philosophy can be summarized in 2 short phrases. We > Me and Person > Player. His focus is on developing the complete person (mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually). He believes a high character person will produce a motivated, hardworking, high performing athlete. Coach Slack’s teams are encouraged and coached to be a family where players and coaches serve one another, always play the game the right way, and approach everything they do with a blue-collar work ethic.
Coach Slack has spent 24 years in the game of softball. His experiences include individual private lessons, travel, high school, and junior college coaching. He has played a pivotal role in developing young women that have gone on to play DI, DII, NAIA, and JUCO level softball.
More specifically, Coach Slack has coached and invested in numerous high school programs including Decatur, Hartselle, Falkville, Bob Jones, and now Huntsville. His college experience was at Calhoun Community College primarily responsible for recruiting, pitching and hitting. He has also coached numerous travel programs with the Southern Force being his most recent.
Coach Slack is a long time resident and contributor to the Hartselle community and is an avid competition level BBQ pitmaster.
